Brief spring

A wayra sequence

Brief spring

Stark black of winter
has bloomed, unfurled, verdant green.
Wind blows warm across the fields
where buttercups tremble,
their bee-full gold unveiled.

Already the wind
from the south mutters, sand-scourge,
desert veils the orange sky,
uneasy birds shuffle,
watching bright rills shrinking,

and the mild spring sun
waxes fiery, burning orb,
pastel green spring wilts, winces,
blossom scatters, snow white,
scorched brown by the wind’s touch.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
