The recent magnetic poetry site has gone. I’ve been consulting the old set for the last few weeks in any case, but I wouldn’t like to think I was partly responsible. If the Oracle leaves, what’s to become of us?

Not-so-dreaming
It was a diamond dream or a dream of diamonds,
or perhaps a dream of a diamond mother.
Perhaps it wasn’t sleep at all, only not-so-sleep,
because the sky was the colour of rain,
and the shadows on your skin were pink as roses,
petals drifting on dark water.
There must be blood in the wind; it has a bitter taste,
and the day aches, weeping dry tears.
A violin plays somewhere, a story of love gone sour,
or lost or died. The ship has gone—
left at the water line, those pink petals again,
and I wonder if these are your last words
Why would you be responsible for a site on the internet disappearing? I see you’ve only been posting magnetic poetry while you posted daily before. Hope you are okay?

I wasn’t being entirely serious 🙂 I hadn’t been using that site for a while and was idly speculating that the Oracle had decided to move if fewer people were visiting. She’s still at the original site though.
I’m okay, thanks. I started a Substack hoping it will be useful to advertise my books and can’t keep up with two sites. There are people here (like you) I like to keep tabs on so I post a poem on Saturdays to keep the blog ticking over.

What’s your substack address? Will follow there.

Not yet but thinking of it.

It’s a good place. Not at all like blogging. There’s a lot more interaction, like having a social media platform just of writers. It’s hard to keep up with anyone on WP. I get hardly any notifications. You get a lot more visibility on Substack and it’s a different kind. People wanting to do things with their writing/art, interacting and being helpful. I’d give it a go. Costs nothing 🙂

You’re having a book published! A trilogy! You must tell us on here too! Congrats Jane!

Thank you! Yes, the first book comes out on July 3rd and a completely different story with a different publisher will be out some time next winter. I don’t have a date yet.

I’ve put in years, but always doing it my way and consequently not getting anywhere. Thank goodness for indie publishers!

“Perhaps it wasn’t sleep at all, only not-so-sleep”–that happens to me so often now.
For me, the magnetic poetry site just went back to the way it was originally. I wonder why it seems to be disappearing for you? It would leave a large hole if it did go away. (K)

Hard to tell sometimes what’s a dream and what is just sleeplessness.
I had the old site bookmarked and it has always functioned. Today though I looked at the new site and got the message from GoDaddy that the site has expired and the domain is up for sale.

That’s strange. Sounds like some kind of spam. It’s working fine here; I just checked again. And it says it’s powered by shopify–when I tried to find a connection with GoDaddy nothing showed up.

Then my theory that I might have upset the Oracle by going back to her old site could be the right one…

Sad when the good stuff ceases. Love your poem.

The almost-sleep and almost dreams–sadly beautiful. My poem had sort of the same theme and many of the same words.
That’s so weird that you get the site is gone. The Oracle is available to me, both the way she’s been for the past month or so, and the site I bookmarked from you.

Thank you 🙂 I’ll look for yours now.

Thanks! For me, that’s the ‘old’ set. I still have that bookmarked and went back to using it a few weeks ago. The ‘new’ one is the one that’s gone, the one with the dark grey background and different names for the word sets.

I know! Remember when she was gone for a while? I think they were rebuilding the site.

Here’s a different link: https://magneticpoetry.com/pages/play-online. It appears the site has been refurbished. Your poem reads like a dream. I can feel the pain from your words.

That’s the original one. I kept it bookmarked when the site updated. It’s the updated version that seems to have gone. Merril can still get it though which is weird!
Thanks Colleen, the Oracle’s poems often read like dreams.
